about

“Kanye, the final frontier. These are the voyages of the Blues Brothers…” - The Blues Brothers, 2022

2022 is in full effect. While it has technically been a quiet year for The Blues Brothters so far, it’s not even two full months into the year, and less than 4 months since they last put out a record (The critically acclaimed “Bluesknighted Kingdom” - One of 3 lauded releases from 2021 alone), so right there - that should be enough to make the haters shut the fuck up. Bless these Blues Brothters, they never stop. And after some enlightening and forward thinking discussions with their close personal friend and collaborator Ye (Formerly known as Kanye West), the Brothters decided that NOW is the time to unleash the spiritual sequel to 2019’s beloved psych-jazz odyssey “ELVIS IN SPACE”. After all, what better day to drop KANYE IN SPACE than February 22nd - the same date Ye has chosen for the release of his new opus “Donda 2”.

February 22nd, or 22.2.22, is a date with much astrological significance. For example, the United States will experience its first Pluto return, a once-in-our-lifetime event that denotes the potential for radical transformations in the country. On this date, Pluto will return to the same place in the zodiac that it was during the “birth” of the United States in 1776 for the first time. Because Pluto is the planet of the underworld and the subconscious, the country will have to reckon with what’s beneath the surface of its measly facade during this period. Many hidden agendas may be revealed, and the dynamics of power could shift drastically. The Blues Brothters hope to aid this seismic shift with their ongoing experiments in culture-jamming magickal music practices. While this may sound intense to some, know that we’ve already been experiencing the effects of this cosmic event for years, given that Pluto is such a slow-moving object, and is lonelier and further away than any other known spheroid in our solar system.

Despite the astrological implications of this planetary time-zone synchronicity, the Brothters are well aware that they share a massive cross section of fans with Ye, and these fans will be spoilt for choice when they are inundated with fresh vibes and sounds to then enjoy forevermore at their whim. At the end of the day, this is about music, not the zodiac. And the vibes and sounds that The Brothters are offering up this time, on their 17th album, can easily go toe-to-toe with anything they’ve released in the past. KANYE IN SPACE is full of hard hitting drums, deep bass, hypnotic melodies, chaotic bursts of noise that give way to moments of tranquility, and all kinds of other sonic flourishes hidden away everywhere across the stereo-spectrum that will keep fans coming back for more, and more, with new details to be uncovered on every listen.

With KANYE IN SPACE, the Blues Brothters have succeeded in creating the first truly transcendent musical work of the covid era. Transcendent not just in terms of its otherworldly sonic characteristics, but also in the universality of its thematic resonance. This is an album not just for the double-vaccinated but also for the unvaccinated, the boosted, the double boosted, the recovering, and even - as Ye himself calls them - the halfcinnated. Herein lies 18 tracks that could smash the divide between the schizoid lockdown resister, the schizo lockdown enjoyer begging for eternal mask mandates, and all the relatively disinterested parties in between. Even haters of Ye himself will find plenty to love about KANYE IN SPACE. And for the Ye lovers (And even Ye himself), a deeply respectful and insightful collage of his most notorious musical and personal moments, as well as some deep cuts, awaits the listener; possibly paving the way for an even deeper love and understanding of one of the most influential artists and icons of the modern era.

Of course, first and foremost, this is a ~fun~ album. You can always count on the Brothters for that. Fun is essential. But much like its predecessor ELVIS IN SPACE, KANYE IN SPACE isn’t merely a good time. It shines a light on some hidden truths, and many other anomalies in the reality field as well. For example, who IS Kanye? The Brothters certainly view him (In addition to being a friend) as a forward thinking revolutionary artist, much like themselves. But what about the godless Masonic freaks in the shadowy smoke-filled control room at the nerve centre of the Earth, how do They view him? Who do They think he is? Because They do view ~everything~. They KNOW everything. So of course They control everything. And what are They trying to use Kanye for? Why must They twist his words and obscure the message? [Which is the exact same message The Blues Brothters have had since day one - a message of love and unity and hope for the future of humanity!] We aren’t allowed to elevate our collective consciousness as a people and as a planet. That’s why. They will simply not allow it. And much like many small-minded detractors have attempted to write-off The Blues Brothters as being “awful” or “unlistenable”, the approach They take with Kanye is to smear him as being “crazy” or “insane”, which is an easy way to dismiss more grandiose ideas about culture with idiotically vague terminology - to which the masses are sadly ~extremely~ susceptible. As long as the hordes of unthinking mediocrity-loving ubereats-addicted low energy drones continue believing everything they hear on The News, the real power of the ideas encoded in the music of Ye and The Blues Brothers will not reach its true zenith. That is why the music simply ~must~ be as powerful as what you will hear when you press play on KANYE IN SPACE. Time and time again, the Brothters continue to meet (and exceed) this self-imposed high standard so that you keep coming back to soak it all in. Like a big hot bath! Is it crazy to believe that children should practice meditation while focusing on art in schools? Would this not benefit their happiness and overall mental wellbeing? Is it insane to think that Taylor Swift doesn’t deserve an award? Is it ridiculous to think that communal living and sharing of wealth and resources will lead to prosperity for the many rather than the few? Should artists not be allowed to experiment with the framework rather than create rote, algorithmic sounding robot-music that works SO well over car advertisements because it has no soul, or even any pleasant tonal qualities whatsoever? Is it psycho to foster employment opportunities for your own people, who can in turn create easily affordable products, rather than outsource production to adversaries who can squish you like a bug when your radiation-starved masters finally decide that NOW is the time for WAR? Is it so radical to hate the do-nothing-democrats and that gangly, bug-eyed freak Pete "Skete" Davidson, with his Hillary tattoo? Is it so unhinged to believe in the existence of some kind of universal force, that may shine a guiding light upon your higher calling? No. It isn’t. If you disagree, it is you who is wrong. It is you who most needs KANYE IN SPACE.

For the long time Blues Brothters fan though, this album will be yet another tasty treat. A smorgasbord platter to to throw on at parties and nod your heads gleefully in unison, bobbing away like Jack Nicholson in Anger Management. Rejoice(!) and dance to the happy rhythms, the delightful frequencies, and the positive MESSAGE, which is one of FREEDOM and TRANSCENDENCE. Don’t worry about Bezos and SpaceX - They’ve got no idea.

If you really want to expand your cosmic horizons, get intergalactic right now with The Blues Brothters and KANYE IN SPACE!!!!
